A Cold Glass of Water
As a child growing up with my grandparents. They had all kinds of sayings. I am sure that I am not alone in this. Here's one of them. "Be good to people because you don't know who will have to give you your last glass of cold water".
When I looked at the calendar this morning. I realized today would have been my grandfather's 104th birthday. One of my last acts of kindness was to give him his last glass of cold water. That day was June 10, 1993 and it was hot that evening. My grandfather worked in a place that was filled with Asbestos. Which of course, was the cause of his breathing issues as well as his death. Had I of known at the time what that glass of water represented. I would have held a longer conversation with him. I would have asked if there was anything else that I could do for him? I would have hugged him. I would have walked him back to his room. I would have loved on him to give him some peace. I am not sad so please don't think that. I am actually thankful. One of the last things I heard him say, "was Jesus help me". He called on the only name that matters that night. When you're in trouble what name do you call on?
But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name. John 20:31 NLT version
What act of kindness can you do today? Is there someone that you need to love on?
