Getting back into the Starting Blocks
Here we are a little over a month into 2020, a new year and a new decade. Just because we started a new year and a new decade has nothing to do with the things you'll experience this year and decade. The calendar changed but the issues of life are still here. The decade changed but the challenges are still here.
The start of this year hasn't been the easiest for me. We've had so much loss in our family that it can take your breath away. And yet in the face of it all I will continue to run this race. Two days ago I celebrated my 61st birthday! I am so very thankful because I didn't see me at 61. To be honest with you I am not sure why I didn't? But the fact is I am here and planning for the rest of my days.
What about you? What plans do you have for this year? Are you still on track with your goals for 2020? If so, then that's great, but if not, today is a good day to get back in the starting block.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1 NIV version
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Philippians 3:14 NIV version
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NIV version
